Teacher Allegedly in Possession and Under Influence of Cocaine At School
SALEM, Wis. (WLIP)— A Salem Grade School special education teacher was fired after authorities discovered cocaine and drug paraphernalia in their belongings, school officials said Monday.
The discovery came after the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department responded to the school on Oct. 3 when administrators suspected the teacher was under the influence of drugs while at work.
The teacher, who was not identified, was immediately placed on administrative leave.
During a subsequent search of the teacher’s belongings on Oct. 16, deputies allegedly found white powder that tested positive for cocaine, a cut straw with white residue, and a plastic bag containing white powder residue.
The Wisconsin Department of Instruction is investigating the teacher’s license.
The case has been referred to the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office for review.
