School Bus Overturns Into Pond; No Injuries Reported
WIND LAKE, Wis. (WLIP) — A school bus overturned into a small pond Tuesday after failing to yield right of way at a highway intersection, authorities reported.
Racine County sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident at approximately 6:11 a.m. at State Highway 36 and S. Wind Lake Road in the Town of Norway.
According to preliminary investigation, the school bus was westbound on S. Wind Lake Road and stopped at the intersection.
After proceeding across the highway, the bus failed to yield to a southbound Pontiac sedan.
The collision caused the bus to overturn, landing on its roof in an adjacent pond.
The bus came to rest in a few feet of water.
No injuries were reported.
The bus was unoccupied by students at the time of the accident, with only the driver present.
Deputies remained on scene to remove the overturned vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
