Kenosha, WI (WLIP)–On Tuesday, a man posing as a Kenosha Water Utility employee attempted to enter a resident’s home on the city’s north side under the false claim of poor water quality.

The resident refused entry and contacted their alderperson, prompting a reminder from the utility’s General Manager, Curt Czarnecki, about the safety protocols followed by their employees.

Czarnecki emphasized that all utility workers carry photo ID, wear uniforms with the utility’s logo, and drive marked vehicles.

He warned that similar scams have been used in the past for theft and urged residents to contact the police department’s non-emergency line at 262-656-1234 if they encounter any suspicious activity.
