Kenosha Police Chief Gives Update on Search For Homicide Suspect Lawrence Franklin
Kenosha, WI (WLIP)–Police continue their search for fugitive Lawrence Franklin who is accused of murdering a Kenosha woman and her unborn child.
25 year old Lawrence Franklin Junior is wanted for the September 6th homicides of 22-year-old Amiah Prather and her unborn baby girl, Honesti.
Police Chief Patrick Patton confirmed to WLIP’s Happenings Q and A that while Franklin is no longer believed to be in the area, efforts to capture him are ongoing, with significant support from the U.S. Marshals.
“We’re confident he’s not in the area,” Patton said.
“Once he’s out of here, it’s tough for us. We don’t have the jurisdiction to continue to chase (and) we rely very heavily on our federal partners, specifically the US Marshals. So we’ve been working very closely with them to make sure that we can bring him here and he can have his day in court here in Kenosha,” Patton said.
The chief also praised the Kenosha community for stepping up and providing crucial information.
He said that trust between the police and the public has made it harder for fugitives to hide.
