KENOSHA, Wis. (WLIP) — The controversial closure of a Kenosha city street went into effect Wednesday morning.
The segment of 68th street between 17th and 18th avenues closed permanently at 7 a.m., allowing for infrastructure improvements and a consolidated school site for K-TEC.
The vacated street will enable the school to develop a more integrated campus setting and improve parking and pickup/drop-off areas.
The closure marks a significant change for the neighborhood’s infrastructure.
Mayor David Bogdala said the closure addresses community concerns about traffic flow, student safety and parking in the Lincoln neighborhood.
